Besides, foreigners can apply the visa upon arrival in Indonesia, if the nationality included on the 67 visa on arrival countries list.  A holder of Visit Visa on Arrival is given 30 days stay and can be extended in Immigration Office for 1 (one) time, to have another 30 days stay.

There are two ways for you to reach Labuan Bajo:

BY AIR

The airport of Labuan Bajo is also called Komodo Airport, with the airport code to be LBJ. There are direct flights from Jakarta (CGK) and Bali Denpasar (DPS) here.

Airlines running routes from Jakarta (CGK) and Labuan Bajo (LBJ):

  • Garuda Indonesia (20KG free luggage), around 2 hours 20 minutes
  • Batik Air (20KG free luggage), around 2 hours 30 minutes

Airlines running routes from Bali (DPS) and Labuan Bajo (LBJ):

  • Garuda Indonesia (20KG free luggage), around 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Nam Air (20KG free luggage), around 50 minutes
  • Wings Air under Lion Air (10KG free luggage), around 1 hour 20 minutes

We would recommend you searching the flights on SKYSCANNER, which is very easy to find the good prices. Another useful app is Traveloka, which is widely used here in Indonesia.

Tip: please make sure you input the full name of the airport Labuan Bajo instead of Labuan, as there is another city called Labuan but it is located in Malaysia.

For the guests who book the 7 days diving package trip with us, we offer free transfer from and to the airport. Please inform us of your flight schedule in advance.

BY SEA

3D/2N OR 4D/3N ISLAND HOPPING FROM LOMBOK

One of the popular ways to get to Labuan Bajo by sea is to join the 3D/2N or 4D/3N islands hopping trip from Lombok. Normally the trip starts from Senggigi/Mataram and prices are around IDR 2.200.000 to IDR 3.300.000 per person. During the trip you can visit local villages and explore the unknown islands with trekking or snorkeling. It is a very good option for travelers since you can experience new things on your way to Labuan Bajo.

BUS AND FERRY FROM BALI

Going with this option is the cheapest way of all. However, it consumes much more time, up to 45 hours, depending on the overland bus speed and stops. You will have three ferry crossings, Bali to Lombok, Lombok to Sumbawa, and Sumbawa to Labuan Bajo. You will have multiple buses to go to the next harbor. Once again, please bear in mind that waiting while changing the bus might happen. However, please make sure in advance that all overland bus tickets you purchase from Bali have included all three ferry crossings and those multiple buses. Thus, before you hand over your money, ask them to write it down on your ticket, so that they are not going to deceive you in the middle of the trip by asking any extras. This option is incredibly exhausting, but the experience can’t be repeated.

CURRENCY

Indonesia only uses Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) for any kind of transaction within the country. We recommend exchanging your cash to IDR upon arrival in Indonesia. Exchange rate of IDR changes from time to time, but the most stable rate for IDR is:

1 USD = IDR 13.300

1 EUR = IDR 16.000

ESSENTIAL THINGS TO PREAPARE

Here are some essentials that you will need to accompany your journey in Labuan Bajo/Komodo National Park:

Suncreen & After Sun Cream : It is highly, highly recommended since the sun ray in Komodo is really strong.
Hat : You might need to wear hat during your trekking trip. Komodo has a savannah vegetation with very few big trees. Chances are, you will expose yourself in the sun  most of the time. One hat will help to prevent sunburn.
Trekking/Sport Shoes : You will need to bring one for sure especially if you book for trekking tour.
Light clothes  : It is a tropical country and you will be doing some active sports so please dress comfortably (and conservatively, please!)
Swimsuit : A must to bring in Komodo National Park!
Mosquito/Insect repellant :

During trekking this will help you to stay away from bug bites.
